FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Is cork sustainable?
Cork is completely natural and biodegradable. In addition, cork can be recycled without releasing toxic waste. Cork is also extracted in a very nature-friendly way. If a cork oak is at least 25 years old, the bark can be removed every 9 years. This has no further effect on the tree.
A cork oak can produce up to 200 kilograms of cork during its lifetime without having to be felled, since the bark can be harvested from the living trunk without it dying afterwards.
There is no waste when processing cork. "Superfluous" cork is collected and compressed and can therefore be easily reused.
